Monday Family Nights: 

 

Every Monday evenings at Carver community Center is a venue for positive and safe interactions between children and their family members. Depending on the planned activity, Time allocated is usually between 4 PM and 9 PM. Activities have included family movie night, Game night, super nutrition, art, holiday socials and family  Zumba. Our average attendance is around 15 persons.  When tend to increase attendance by promoting Monday’s family night not only to our core group, but also to the communities we serve.

 

Sponsorships are available to help us expand our Monday family night and continue to provide a positive, safe and enriching environment for families come together.

Nutrition and Health

“A Daily Meal” Feeding Program:

through collaboration with Ross County community action, two nutrition programs are administered at the Carver community Center. “A Daily Meal” feeding program provides free lunches Monday through Friday, year-round. Meals are prepared and served at the center and an average of 60 persons are fat each day.

Summer Feeding Program:

This program provides a free lunch two children age birth through 18 years old. Operating Monday through Friday between late May and late August, meals are prepared at the center and delivered to 15 feeding sites 

“Enrich Your Health”: 

Through collaboration with other organizations, this program provides various health related classes at the Carver community Center. Class is designed to encourage and inspire a healthy lifestyle are held almost every day of the week. Participants can enjoy exercise classes such as Zumba, Monday through Friday with an average attendance of 50 adults, as well as, the “Taking off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS)”  Weight loss program and attended by an average of 20 persons. Every Saturday, a woman’s alcohol anonymous support group meets with an average of 10 woman.

PROGRAMS

Full Day Early Education Program: 

​​This program operates year-round and serves children 2 ½ every five years  of age. Program hours our five thirty 5:30 AM a.m. until 6 PM p.m. Monday through Friday. Designed specifically for this age group, this program follows the “all about preschool”  curriculum which is based on an early childhood learning rating scale.

​The scale reinforces cognitive skill development in the areas of science, mathematics and social studies. The ultimate program objective is to ensure that these children are well prepared to succeed when they enter kindergarten. Currently, 25 children are enrolled an average of 10 attend daily.

Before/After  School Program:

This program is attended by children ages six through 18 who are enrolled in regular public schools. This program operates Monday through Friday during the normal school year, September through May. Participating children attend up to 3 hours prior to their regular school hours and or up to 4 hours following.

The primary focus is to enhance the academic performance of the students. We accomplish this by providing them with tutorial support and homework assistance, as well as engaging them and other educational activities that supplement there in school learning. This program currently enrolls 400 children and an average of 30 attend daily.

Summer Youth Program:

this program provides developmental, educational and recreational activities for youth  ages 6 to 18 during their summer recess from public schools. This program typically operates the eight weeks of mid June through mid August. Educational activities include math and science workshops, classroom lectures and demonstrations, visits to the museums, historical sites and nature preserves, as well as participation in the bookworm program through the local library.

Physical fitness and health is very important to us at the Carver community Center. Summer recreational activities include exercise classes, trips to the local swimming pool and skating rink, just to name a few. During the 2016 summer, 62 youth enrolled in this program and an average of 50 years attended each day.
