Thousands as young people And families have participated in the Carver Community center programs over the years and their lives have been enriched as a result.

Our History

The Caver community center was established in 1945 by community determination to provide opportunities for Chillicothe’s African American youth in an era when racial separation was still the rule in Southern Ohio. With leadership from Reverend Wesley S. Matthews as the African Methodist Episcopal Church, the center came to life in a former bakery.

In 1973 a vital community- wide fund drive, alone with federal aid,  afforded the center to move into a facility that now houses classrooms, meeting rooms, an indoor sport area and stage, a large kitchen, offices and an  outdoor playground.

Enriching the Lives of Children and Families.
